Feel Good Friday in Lancaster and Morecambe - Episode 27

Posted on Friday, August 13, 2021

Welcome to this weeks edition of Feel Good Friday.    It's Friday 13th,  some might say unlucky but here at JDG HQ, we think it's a very lucky day indeed!  Unfortunately, we can't share our exciting news yet, but watch this space!  Back to some happy local news in Lancaster...

Have you seen the Sunflowers at Lancaster Castle yet?   This fabulous display of handcrafted steel sunflower is bright and vibrant.   These are sunflowers that have been purchased by individuals and families to help raise money for St Johns Hospice and are on display for everyone to see throughout August.  At the end of the month,  the owner of each flower will be able to take it home to keep forever, knowing that have donated to a very worthy cause.    If this doesn't make you smile, nothing will!  We have mentioned the sunflowers before,  now we recommend you go and see this fabulous art installation!

Whilst you are in Lancaster, why not call into one of our Lancaster cafes and sample one of their superb afternoon tea.  This week is National Afternoon Tea week and over on the Facebook page Totally Local Lancaster, we have been seeing some fabulous afternoon teas displayed.   Check out Cafe Dolce for cute cakes and dainty sandwiches.  For something more savoury, visit The Cornish Bakery and if you want something show-stopping,  it has to be the Lancaster House Hotel.  We also informed the cafe at animal care is very tasty too - we just haven't seen a photo to verify this yet!

Can you imagine getting a letter from the Queen?  Noah Brandwood from Lancaster is just 3 years old.   Back in May, Lancaster Police allowed him to experience what it is like to be a policeman.  They even showed him to handcuff someone!   Noahs dad wrote to the Queen letting her know about Noah's day with the police.   Imagine his surprise and light when he got a reply!  Lucky boy - do we have a future Lancaster Police Officer in the making?

Next in the feel-good news, we have to highlight those companies that allow people to bring their pets to work.  We are very lucky that Boots, our beautiful cavapoochon gets to come to the office every day.   Square Digital in Lancaster really has upped the ante though when it comes to bringing pets to work.   Luke the Lizzard is a regular office fixture ever since losing his partner Leah.  Apparently he helps also keep one of their directors Kamal Essa calm!    We are looking forward to meeting him!    What interesting pets are there in your workplace?

And finally,  over in Morecambe.   The story that Tyson Fury's little baby girl is off her ventilator is superb news.   News broke yesterday that their little girl was officially dead for 3 minutes.  It's a true miracle and thanks to the amazing staff at Alder Hey hospital that she was saved.   Whilst she is still in ICU, the news is much more positive from the Fury Camp.   This little girl has been born a true fighter!  No fight that Tyson ever carries out will trump that of his daughter.   Keep fighting Athena, you've got a nation behind you!

That's it for this week's feel-good news.   If you have a feel-good story you want to share, please let us know.  We would love to highlight you!

Thanks for reading
