Feel Good Friday in Lancaster and Morecambe- Episode 19

Posted on Thursday, June 17, 2021

Welcome to this weeks selection of the best, positive headlines from our beautiful corner of the world, as we bring you another edition of Feel Good Friday!  We've made it to touching distance of the weekend..woo hoo! And blimey...what a week it's been!   So turn off the TV, get that kettle on, sink yourself in your comfy sofa (or bed if you prefer!) whilst we tell you more...

In Lancaster

First off, are you a bread fan?

If so, would you ever consider trying out 'Wonky Bread?  If the answer is yes and would like to enjoy a varied choice on a regular basis, get in touch with 20-year-old Lancaster University student, James Eid!

James founded his subscription bakery business 'Earth & Wheat' in March 2021 and has proved to be so successful in such a short time, that the menu has been expanded and now includes additional family favourites including Naan. Yum!

Staying in Lancaster, the Hindu Society's Mrs Harsha Shukla MBE has paid tribute to the hard-working NHS Morecambe Bay Trust staff by organising a family event to commemorate and send thanks for their hard work most notably in the global pandemic. The family event also gave children of the society an opportunity to join in and make positive memories with family during difficult times. Colourful floral displays were installed outside the Medical Unit 1 of The RLI Hospital and additional plans to add Memorial Stones have been announced for the future.

In Morecambe

'The Wakes Week Mural' on Morecambe Promenade has been unveiled this week with very positive feedback from the public!   Commissioned by 'Deco Publique' and painted by 'Cobalt Collective' designers, the 180m2 colourful Mural in the Sandylands area, celebrates the rich history and love of our favourite seaside town, Morecambe.

With the brightly decorated words reading 'A Bay of Big Skies and Shifting Tides, Come and Be Happy at Morecambe' the Mural also depicts nostalgic images of a 99 Ice Cream,  divers of the Swimming Stadium from yesteryear,  a sunbather on a deck chair, local wildlife and 2 x roller skating dancers!   If you want to take a look at this stunning creation, get yourself down to The Battery and walk along the promenade towards the Sandylands direction...

And finally, a feel-good happy ending over in Bare after a domestic house cat came home safely after being missing since 13th April 2021! Puddy, a timid, black, fluffy, female domestic cat went missing after recently moving to the area from Lancaster. Puddy's owner kept the faith spending many days and nights trying to find her and with the help of the Bay Cat Rescue team and the supportive local community reporting their sightings, Puddy was found safely on nearby Fairhope Avenue on Wednesday evening, some 64 days after going missing!

Puddy's owner Sam declared on social media "Back home looking like a bag of bones and grounded for the foreseeable!! I cannot thank the expert from Bay Cat Rescue who helped every day and night in the search for my cat. I would never have gotten her back otherwise! She is an amazing lady.  Thank you so much to everyone in Bare who helped. I've met some awesome people so kind...I won't forget it xx

I hope you've enjoyed this week's read and if you have any feel-good news you wish to share, let me know!   In the meantime, enjoy your weekend, keep smiling and remember -"Better Days are coming"

Thanks for reading,
