Google is usually the first stop, and now it even shows an AI-generated summary of reviews to give you a quick overview. Beyond that, there are other platforms like Trustpilot, Feefo, GetAgent, ESTAS and AllAgents. Each has its own way of collecting and displaying reviews.
But here’s the important bit — not every site verifies the people leaving reviews. That means, in some cases, anyone can post a comment, even if they’ve never actually used the agent. It’s one reason why you’ll sometimes find vague, overly generic feedback that doesn’t sound quite right.
Here are a few things I always suggest:
Don’t just stop at the top few reviews — scroll further down the list.
Look at who’s writing them. Are they sellers, buyers, landlords or tenants? Their experiences can vary quite a lot.
Pay attention to how the agent responds to feedback. A great agent doesn’t just collect good reviews — they handle all comments professionally, even the tricky ones.
Online reviews can tell you a lot, but they’re only part of the story. In my view, nothing beats a real recommendation. Ask your neighbours, friends or colleagues who they’ve sold or let through recently — they’ll give you honest insights. Or even better, pick up the phone and speak to the agent yourself. You can tell a lot from the first conversation — how they listen, how knowledgeable they are about your area, and whether they genuinely care about helping you move.
At JDG, we’re proud to be part of the Ethical Agent Network — which means our standards, honesty and community values are independently verified.
