Posted on Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Everybody is talking about Hygge - a danish concept used to descibe the feeling of cosiness and contentment in your life.   At JDG believe a home is also a feeling.  It's place where memories are made.   It's a place where we feel safe.   Here are 4 ways we feel you can hygge up your home for a sale this New Year....

.

Does your home have a fireplace?  If so you are half way there.  If it is an open fire or a wood burning stove,  you are winning already.  66% of Danes, the founders of hygge,  said that a real fire is a must have.  It is the heart of home.  The place you can curl up around on a cold winter evening.   Buyers love features like real fires.  Make sure you light yours for when your photos are taken.  On viewing days add some fairy lights for a twinkling effect.

Hygge decor isn’t necessaily all white.  Sure the Danes love white, but they also believe a house should be a home and reflect your personality.   Decor does not have to be white!  Danes loves nature.  The deep green forest walls here are a great example.   The modern white desk is functionalyet stylish.  A favourite chair is a place to read.

Blankets and cushions are a must have in any hygge home.  There is nothing better than snuggling under a blanket with a plump cushion under your head whilst you read your favourite book.  Think texture and be tactile.  Cushions, throws and pillows are a bedroom essential too.

Hygge-lig is a feeling of happiness.  And what can be better than a rustic farmhouse table set in the middle of the kitchen.  It’s a place where friends and families gather and stories are told.  Hygge is great food and hot drinks,  it’s about the happiness we feel when we are with our loved ones hence we had to include the kitchen table.

Hygge up your home and you'll soon be selling in 2017!
