Schools in LA4 - Morecambe Education matters

A common reason for moving house is to be in the catchment area of a desired school. Competition for highly regarded primary and secondary schools is high. Often there are many more applications than there are places in a school.   Catchment area and whether you are in it is a key deciding factor as to whether your child (or children) can secure a place.   So let's take a look at the primary and secondary education provision in LA4.

This popular school opened in 1991. There are over 100 staff with children attending from a variety of backgrounds aged from 4-11. Capacity is 630. The mission statement is "caring, challenging and aiming high".The outdoor facilities are great, comprising of the school field, an all-weather surface and a big tarmac playground. These areas are perfect for the many after school clubs and for play-times too.

With a mission statement of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility this popular school has capacity for 630 pupils aged 4-11 years. Lancaster Road Nursery is located on the same site. The before and after school club offers lots of fun and creative activities. The school is made up of the original building which has been extended a number of times over the years and has undergone significant modernisation.

Following refurbishment in 2012, there are many wonderful facilities here including a performing arts studio, immersive learning room and even a film studio!  A happy and enthusiastic atmosphere is promoted and children are encouraged to recognise what a wonderful place Morecambe Bay is to live in and learn in.  The curriculum strives to prepare its students for the future and community focus is a key priority for the school. Capacity is 345 pupils of age range 3-11.

This school enjoys a rich history dating back to 1745. The will of the village blacksmith of Poulton le Sands, named Francis Bowes, enabled the school to be founded in 1745 plus a chapel in the village. The school has Church of England Aided status. Just over 200 children attend and the curriculum is complemented with themed weeks and after school activities.

Morecambe Bay Academy opened on the 1st May 2019. The Academy sits on the site that was previously Morecambe Community High School.  Prior to this, the school was originally Morecambe Grammar School. The Academy is part of Bay Learning Trust and each member of the Academy community is encouraged to follow the vision of Belong, Believe, Achieve.
