5 Reasons to live in Moorlands & Primrose - a focus on LA1 3

Posted on Monday, April 13, 2020

Welcome to both Primrose and the Moorlands, two neighbouring areas in South Lancaster which are highly sought after and in demand. We are often asked how do you define between the two suburbs.   A simple way is many of the streets in Moorlands are named after Scotland - think Aberdeen Road,  Balmoral Road,  Elgin Street,  and Dundee Street.  Here are just 5 of the reasons why we think this is a great area to live....
5 Reasons to live in Moorlands & Primrose - a focus on LA1 3

No.1 The Community

Primrose and the Moorlands are both areas with a strong sense of community, benefitting greatly from an array of local amenities within walking distance. Primrose is home to The Park Hotel, a fantastic pub with a friendly atmosphere which hosts entertainment evenings and live Sky Sports and BT Sport on their big screens... ideal for sports fanatics!

Moorlands, whilst also in great proximity to Lancaster City Centre, is home to its very own church for Christians. The Moorlands Church hosts a number of events and activities ideal for those with children or religious background.

No.2 The Location

We love it as Estate Agents when we get a home for sale in either Primrose or the Moorlands, largely due to their location. Both Primrose and the Moorlands have fantastic locations with great accessibility to local amenities, Lancaster City Centre and Lancaster’s key employers.

Primrose itself neighbours one the City’s key employers, the University of Cumbria and both areas have great accessibility to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Lancaster University. Lancaster City Centre is within walking distance to both areas, offering an array of pubs, bars, shops and even an outdoor market on both Wednesdays and Saturdays.

No.3  The Green Spaces

Williamson Park, home to The Ashton Memorial and The Butterfly House, is one of Lancaster’s most popular attractions offering over 52 acres of parkland for everyone to enjoy. Live in either the Moorlands or Primrose and you can walk to the park and enjoy everything it has to offer from visiting the Meerkats to taking in those breath-taking views from the memorial. Why not join in on the park run on a Saturday morning?

Not many postcodes are within walking distance of both a City Centre and large green spaces for fresh air!

No.4  The Education

Lancaster is renowned for its fantastic free education system and is home to both Lancaster Royal Grammar School and Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School which are both highly regarded nationwide. Live in either Primrose or the Moorlands and you are within walking distance of Lancaster Royal Grammar School, Ripley St Thomas and a number of sought-after primary schools. Perfect for those with families.

No.5  The House Prices

The Moorlands and Primrose are most commonly known for their two-three-bedroom terrace homes which vary in price from around £100,000-£160,000 (depending on condition and size). This price bracket is usually most attractive to first-time-buyers and buy-to-let landlords alike, making both areas extremely popular and sought after.  Both areas are great if you’re looking to get on the property ladder or for a home to add to your portfolio!

Whether you choose to live in Moorlands or Primrose,  you have the city on your doorstep,  open public parks and green space nearby and the areas, key employers, within walking distance.
