Eat out to Help Out - Your Lancaster guide

Posted on Thursday, August 6, 2020

This week is the first week of the Government's newly rolled out 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme.  The scheme has been introduced to assist the economy, most notably the food and hospitality industry which has been impacted following the recent months of Lockdown during the COVID 19 pandemic.   This is a great opportunity which enables families to discover new foods and eateries and/or simply return to their favourites at a reduced price.

What is it?

Announced within Rishi Sunak's Summer Government statement a few weeks back, this scheme offers diners (including both adults and children) a saving of 50% off meals, with the discount capping at £10 per head.  There is no limit as to how many times you can visit, so you could enjoy Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at reduced prices. From the list below you are not short of options!  The scheme runs from Monday - Wednesday from 3rd August - 31st August and is exclusive to establishments signed up to the scheme.  Tables must be booked in advance and can be booked by contacting the establishments directly.

How much will myself/family save?

Should a couple go out and spend £30 on food and non-alcoholic soft drinks, they would each receive a discount of £7.50 per head off the meal, a total discount of £15.00 with the value being equal to 50%.  Should that couple decide to spend £80.00 instead, a discount of £10 per head would then apply (calculating at a total for both of £20) despite this representing a discount of 25%.
