Feel Good Friday in Lancaster and Morecambe- Episode 25

Posted on Friday, July 30, 2021

Hello and welcome to this week's Feel Good Friday!  It is here in our sunshine corner of the world where we delve into the heart of our local communities and cherry-pick the best, Feel Good headlines from the past week..and what another fun-filled week we have had!

Today Friday 30th July is officially International Friendship Day!  What better way to feel good than to have a catch-up and a laugh with a good friend you've not seen in ages?  Especially after the last year, why not make that phone call and have that long overdue catch-up in the comfort of your own home or your favorite Lancaster or Morecambe coffee shop?

Lancaster

As it is Friday, for a lot of us it can only mean one thing...A Chippy Tea!  Do you have a favorite recommendation? What do you order?  We really are spoilt for choice with the best Chip Shops around and this week, we take the opportunity to salute 'Hodgson Chippy' in Primrose, South Lancaster who saved the day at the last minute to help Bride and Groom Lisa & Luke Wilson feed their hungry wedding guests!  Let down by another caterer at the very last minute, Nigel and his team got to work, providing over 50 portions of their national award-winning fish & chips which went down swimmingly...

Staying in Lancaster now, where we tell the story of how a resident helped save a man's life whilst out shopping last Saturday!  Michelle Carr became a local hero on social media after news spread of how she helped resuscitate a gentleman who had collapsed whilst sat on a nearby bench.  Michelle noticed from watching a security guard perform CPR that the gentleman had appeared to have stopped breathing and rushed over to help.  Between the two of them and with assistance over a 999 call, they were praised by Paramedics who arrived on the scene shortly after.  The gentleman was taken to the RLI and continued to be cared for and we believe is on the mend to recovery..

Morecambe

Over the River Lune into Morecambe now and a group of Morecambe FC fans are raising money with the aim to buy free season tickets for families in the local community who have been badly struggling during the pandemic!  The Shrimps Trust has been campaigning over the last few years with the aim to improve the relationship of the club with its fans.  With a GoFundMe page already set up, the Trust has announced plans to take private donations from businesses and individuals so that tickets can be purchased for unemployed and financially hit families- great idea guys!

And finally, in Heysham, we have heard the news that a recently retired Teachers Assistant and her partner have won a whopping £30,000 on the People's Postcode Lottery.  Lucky winners were named as Mr. John Standen and his partner Diane and got the news the same day Diane took retirement!  They plan to enjoy retirement and are dreaming of a trip to New Zealand. Another couple also won and have asked to remain anonymous, we wish you all the best with your future!

So there we go! I hope you've enjoyed this week's read and if you have any feel-good news you wish to share, let me know! In the meantime,  enjoy your weekend, keep smiling and remember -"Better Days are coming"

Thanks for reading,
