Are Lancaster and Morecambe buyers returning to the market?

After a quieter summer, there are early signs that more buyers are beginning to restart their property searches.

Across the UK, home searches are now 7% higher than they were a year ago—the strongest annual increase recorded in the past 12 months.

For the first time since August 2025, searches are also ahead of last year in every UK region and country. Here in the North West, the increase is more modest at 0.7%, but it still suggests that buyer interest is moving in the right direction.

That feels important for the Lancaster and Morecambe property market.

September and October often bring a change in mindset. The summer holidays are over, routines return and buyers who paused their plans begin looking again. Some want to move before Christmas, while others are starting early in the hope of being settled by spring.

Of course, searches do not immediately become sales. The number of sales agreed nationally remains 6% lower than a year ago, so we should not pretend the market has suddenly raced ahead. Buyers remain thoughtful, particularly when it comes to price, mortgage costs and the condition of a home.

However, online searches are often one of the first signs that confidence is returning. People browse before they book viewings, and they usually view before making offers.

For anyone thinking of selling in Lancaster or Morecambe, this creates an opportunity—but getting the asking price right remains crucial. Today’s buyers have plenty of information at their fingertips and will quickly spot a home that feels expensive compared with similar properties.

Autumn may not bring a dramatic market boom, but these figures suggest more buyers are switching their search alerts back on. That is a positive early sign for sellers who present and price their homes well.
