Chequers Avenue is located in the Newlands area of Lancaster which is located on the south side of the city which attracts a wide range of clientele from professionals, growing families to the retired.

There are excellent local amenities including shops, schools and churches. There are also excellent transport links with regular buses taking you to both Lancaster University and the city centre.

Lancaster University is only a short drive away and the University of Cumbria, the hospital and the city are all within walking distance. This property is in an elevated position.

We have to say that we were most impressed with the space which the lounge offers. Think bright and airy and that’s exactly what this room is. The main focal point is the gas fire to the centre of the room, whilst the large double glazed window enjoys looking onto the low maintenance garden to the front of the home.

Underneath the enclosed staircase there is a useful storage cupboard which will be ideal to hide away the hoover and ironing board and from this area there is a glazed doorway which provides direct access into the dining room.

The dining room is also a very generous sized reception room. This is certainly a great space where you could entertain your family and friends, and thanks to the double opening doors to the kitchen you can still talk to them, whilst you prepare the evening meal. The dining room has a rather pleasing aspect, looking out onto the well maintained garden to the rear of the home, which is a beautiful, private space.

The kitchen will be a cooks dream thanks to the amount of room you have here. Ample storage is on offer and there is more than enough workspace for those who love to prepare their own food. As you would expect there is space for all the white goods which we all require and there is a built in oven and hob also. The room has a lovely bright feel to it thanks to the dual aspect to both the side and the rear of the home. There is also a breakfast bar facility which we just love. Access into the rear garden can be gained from the kitchen.

Bedrooms and bathroom

On the ground floor, before we head up to the larger bedrooms, there is a well proportioned single room which looks out over the front of the home. This neutrally decorated room has a real sense of space and light and has been used as both a bedroom and study so can be versatile if needed.

Also on the ground floor is the three piece bathroom. The suite has been fitted with a shower above the bath and the majority of the room has been tiled to complement. A frosted double glazed window to the side elevation allows in plenty of light, whilst the boiler for the home's heating and hot water is concealed, cleverly inside a storage cupboard.

Up on the first floor of the home there are two great sized double rooms with the master overlooking the front. However, the main thing that caught our attention is the simply wonderful views across the Lancaster rooftops, thanks to the elevated position and further afield towards Morecambe Bay and the hills of the Lakes.

The second double bedroom on the first floor also features some rather handy built in storage. This brilliant sized room looks out over the well-appointed garden to the rear of the home and will enjoy the morning sunshine. We feel that this would make a perfect room for a child or maybe even a great sized room for when your guests come to visit.

Low maintenance gardens

Externally to the front of the home, the garden area is actually raised up from the roadside and pavement which gives you more privacy when you are inside the home. The owner has cleverly added additional parking to this low maintenance area however the driveway provides further parking which leads down the side of the home and towards the detached single garage.

The garage itself has double opening doors and the owner has fitted this space with a double glazed window. Inside there is also power, light and a water supply.

Once you are round to the rear of the home there is a private, low maintenance and well-maintained garden which could be enjoyed all year round.
