Dairy Cottage is situated towards the end of Bailrigg Lane in between Scotforth and Lancaster University. This small single track tree lined lane leads to a private road and courtyard of properties. Conveniently close to the A6 and access to the M6 motorway, this fabulous home is a short stroll from the Lancaster University and Galgate village yet within easy reach of the City Centre.
What we like
We were very impressed with the size of the rooms for this quaint cottage style bungalow, whats even more impressive is the private, mature garden to the rear with its own summerhouse. A real must see.
About this home
Stepping inside from the front elevation you will find yourself in the hallway which has access to the majority of the rooms and offers a real welcoming feel. The living room is to the far end of the home and the owners have added a multi fuel stove to the centre of the room. There is space to dine which is open to both the kitchen and the conservatory which has a pleasing aspect looking out into the rear garden.
The master bedroom also offers views over the rear of the home and there is a further double bedroom to the front elevation. The owners use what could well be a third bedroom as a study room and there is also a utility room and three piece bathroom available.
To the front of the home you will find an allocated parking space and access down the side of the home leads you to the private and enclosed rear garden which features outside storage and a summer house.
The living area
As you enter this home from the main front elevation you will firstly step into the hallway. This area has been decorated in a soft and neutral colour scheme and makes you feel right at home. There is space to store your coats and shoes and there is a hatch up to the loft area for storage. Doorways also open to the majority of the rooms.
The main living room is a wonderful sized space where you can relax or entertain your guests in front of the wood burning stove which is the main focal point to the room. To the far end of the room there are two window which have pleasing dual aspects looking out to the rear garden whilst further French windows look through to the conservatory. Buyers will find that there is a further sitting area in the conservatory which has access out to the rear garden and would be a great space to maybe sit down and read a book or simply just enjoy the views over the garden.
The kitchen offers a great range of storage and there are work tops to three sides offering several built in appliances. The kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a double electric oven, gas hob and an extractor fan. The stainless steel sink has a one and a half bowl along with a single drainer. The majority of the walls have been tiled for ease of cleaning. The dining area is open plan to the kitchen which will be ideal when you are entertaining your family and friends or simply just enjoying your evening meals. Just off the hallway there is also a utility room where there is further storage, plumbing for a washing machine and an extra sink. The boiler is also located in the utility room so it saves you space in the kitchen.
The bedrooms and bathroom
To the rear of the home is where you will discover the master bedroom which is a wonderful sized double room. Once again the decoration has been finished in a soft colour scheme which most buyers will appreciate. There are a range of built in wardrobes to one wall which will be ideal for all your storage needs. The second bedroom is also large enough to accommodate a double bed if required and has space for all the furniture you would require.
Buyers will see that the third bedroom is used as a home office at the moment and to be fair it works rather well for this. If you work from home then this is certainly the perfect space to do so. The bathroom offers a three piece suite in white which has a shower above the bath to give you the best of both worlds. The majority of the walls have been tiled with the rest with a decorative border to complement.
The landscaped gardens
Outside the home to the front there is enough space to park two small cars or one larger vehicle off road on the land which the owner has purchased which is a real bonus for the property
Externally to the rear there is a beautiful and well maintained, private enclosed garden area which you can enjoy all year round. There are a variety of mature trees, plants and shrubs to give you plenty of colour and will be ideal for any keen gardener. To the top of the garden there is the recent addition of a new timber shed and log store along with a summerhouse on the paved patio seating area. There is also a new timber gate which is lockable to the side of the garden. The peaceful and quite location also attracts plenty of wildlife.
