What we like

"There’s nothing quite like an Edwardian home with a good balance of original period features and contemporary touches. This home has a perfect balance. There’s ample space with the 3 reception rooms and 3 generous sized bedrooms. The light and views of Williamson Memorial to be enjoyed along with cosy fires and beautiful cottage garden."

The ground floor

Step through the custom-made solid wood entrance door into the welcoming L shaped entrance hallway. Straightaway, it is evident that this is a home full of character and charm. A beautiful Edwardian restored tiled floor greets you. Stairs lead up the first floor. All three ground floor reception rooms lead off this central hallway.

The character flows into the spacious bay fronted lounge. Deep skirtings and original cornicing feature. The ceilings are high, a much-wanted trait of the era of this home which adds to the elegance. A beautiful open fire is inset into the chimney breast. Useful open shelving is built into the alcove.

The 2nd reception room is open plan to the bespoke solid oak kitchen which was handcrafted by Maelstrom of Lancaster. This is a perfect room made for entertaining or simply relaxing around the Italian wood burning stove. The open plan arrangement gives it a real social feel and has become the heart of this family home. It's so light and bright and fabulous views out the beautifully planted garden and terrace.

The 3rd reception room is used a study away from the bustle of family life. French doors open out the garden. It's a multifunctional room with a sofa bed that can be used for visiting guests. Conveniently the ground floor shower room is just next door.

The kitchen was chosen to be in keeping with the home. The handcrafted units are in solid oak with solid oak worksurfaces to match. The Bosch double oven and 5 ring gas hob are integral. The outlook is pretty with views down Myndon street behind and out the garden from the side. The kitchen opens out to a stone clad porch and beautiful covered terrace.

The first floor

To the first floor, there are 3 double bedrooms and a family bathroom which was re-fitted in 2015 with entirely new fittings.

The spacious bedroom is located the front of the home. With it dual aspect windows it is a sunny room and has views of Williamson Memorial. The 2nd bedroom with its soft grey decor also looks out the front, whilst the peaceful 3rd bedroom has views looking down Myndon Street. All are beautifully presented, the entire home having been professionally decorated over the course of the past 5 years.

The basement

The large basement is accessed via solid stone steps from the hallway. The ceiling is high which gives this area potential for future development. The current family use is a store area and utility. The washer machine is plumbed in this area.

The cottage garden and rear private parking

A key feature of Barley Copp Villas is the large cottage garden which facing south ensures its sunny aspect. The garden has been landscaped creating a haven for wildlife, birds and bees. A covered terrace gives you shelter from the sun in the summer but also allows you to sit out still on more damp days and enjoy a steaming mug of coffee after tending to your crops.
