Borrowdale Road, Freehold - a beautiful period home

About the location

Freehold is one of our most requested areas of Lancaster. Probably because it's one of the greenest! Residents initially move here due to sought after schools and excellent motorway links. They like the fact you can walk into the city, yet just a 5 minute stroll brings you to the park. They tell us there is a great sense of community, whether it's just getting to know your neighbours through to joining in the local events at The Gregson Centre. We love it as it's one of the few places you can get a period home with a garden!

What we like....

We love the size of the rooms this house offers throughout. The garden to the rear of the home is a fantastic sized area which all the family can enjoy and the views from the top of the house are fantastic towards the bay and over the roof tops of Lancaster.

A brief description

This detached family home will appeal to a wide variety of buyers looking for a new home. As you step inside you will find yourself in the hallway which has access to all the ground floor rooms, and stairs which lead you to the lower ground and the first floors.

The main living room is a generous size and there is also a further sitting room which overlooks the rear garden. Once you are down to the lower level there is a fantastic sized kitchen with ample space to dine and there is access out to the garden from here. Once you are up to the first floor of the home you will find that there are two double bedrooms along with the three piece bathroom whilst on the top floor there are two further double rooms. Once you are up to the top floor you will see that there are fantastic views from both the front and rear of the home.

Externally there is a great sized garden to the rear of the home which all the family can enjoy. This private space backs onto open fields and there is a timber storage shed available to the far end. The home is both double glazed and gas central heated throughout.

Ground & Lower ground floors

As you step inside this home from the main front elevation you will find yourself in the entrance vestibule which in turn leads you through to the hallway. Buyers will find the hall is a great sized area which has access to all the rooms on this level and there are two sets of stairs leading up and down. To the far end of the hallway there is access to the outside space and also a rather handy ground floor wc which will be ideal when you have guests around.

To the front of the home is where you will find the main living room. This spacious and neutrally decorated room features a double glazed bay window to the front elevation and the main focal point has to the the character open fireplace. The owners have the floorboards on show which adds to the character and charm of this room. The second reception room on this level could be used for a variety of uses depending on your needs. We feel this would make the ideal home office or possibly even a play room for the kids.

As you step downstairs to the lower ground floor there is a handy storage area straight ahead of you at the foot of the stairs which houses the boiler and there is room to add a freezer or dryer in the space which was once the coal hole. The main area to the lower ground floor is a fantastic open plan kitchen diner. Buyers will find that the kitchen offers ample built in storage with plenty of work space for those who love to cook. There is a range of built in appliances ranging from a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and the oven/hob. From the sink area there is a double glazed window which allows in natural light to this end of the kitchen. To the opposite side of the room there is a double glazed doorway which leads out to the rear garden. The dining area features a multi fuel stove inset in an inglenook stone fireplace which will be ideal during those winter months when you are all gathered round the table enjoying your evening meals.

First and Second floors

Once you are up to the first floor of the home you will discover a great sized double bedroom which looks out over the front of the home. We love the space this room offers and feel that this would make the perfect guest suite. The second bedroom on this level is also a generous sized room which can easily accommodate a double bed if you so wish. This room has a rather pleasing aspect which looks out over the rear garden and onto the open fields beyond.

Finally once you are up to the top floor level you will find that there are two further double bedrooms. The master bedroom is located on this level and features its very own en-suite wet room which has been fully tiled to complement. This double room offers plenty of space for all the furniture you would expect to have and the room looks out over the rooftops of Lancaster and towards the Castle. The double room to the rear actually offers views across towards the Bay and the Lakes in the distance.

Outside space

To the front of the home there is a low maintenance area with gated access and walled boundaries. Steps lead you up to the main front entrance and there is a paved pathway down the side of the home which leads you round to the rear garden.

Once you are round to the rear of the property buyers will discover a great sized garden which all the family can enjoy. There is a flagged patio seating area where you can sit and relax in the summer sunshine and there is also a well maintained lawned area where the kids could play.
